General Information
Slovenia has an extensive north/south and east/west highway system. This offers easy access to the neighboring countries of Austria and Italy. In one direction you can drive to the mountain resorts in the Alps and in the other direction are coastal resorts on the Adriatic Sea. One of the most popular resort communities is located on Lake Bled where there is skating and curling in the winter months and swimming and rowing in the summer months.
Requirements
To rent a car, you must be at least 18 years old (age may vary by car category) and have held your license for one year. Drivers under the age of 25 may incur a young driver surcharge. Depending on the supplier there may be a maximum age limit of 73, and drivers age 70-73 may incur a fee. Seatbelts are mandatory for all passengers and you must be 12 to sit in the front seat.

Speed limits in Slovenia are as follows: City 37mph/60kph Open Roads 50mph/80kph Highway 75mph/120kph
Rules of the Road
Traffic travels on the right and police are empowered to collect all traffic fines on the spot.
Gas
Many gas stations are located on the main highways and at border crossing. These stations are usually open 24 hours. Most stations in cities are open from 7am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday.
Tolls
The A10/E70, A1/E63 and the A10/E57 highways are subject to a toll payment.
