Driving Overview

General Information
The current network of roads in Estonia is quite extensive, however there are few major highways. In recent years, the government has developed scenic tourist routes in conjunction with neighboring countries. The 'Via Baltica' runs south-west from the capital of Tallin through Parnu to Riga, Latvia. The 'Via Estonia' runs south-east from Tallin to the Russian border. The 'Via Hansa' highway parallels the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland and leads to Narva and St. Petersburg. Unleaded gasoline is widely available.

Requirements
To rent a car, you must be at least 19 years old (age may vary by car category) and have held your licence for one year. Drivers under the age of 25 may incur a young driver surcharge. Child seats are not mandatory.

Within city limits the speed limit is 30mph/50kph and on highways it is 54mph/90kph. On some roads the maximum speed is 60mph/100kph.

Rules of the Road
Drive on the right hand side of the road. Driving with lights on is required 24 hours a day. Seatbelts are required for drivers and passengers in the front seat.

Insurance Information

General Information
Car rental insurance varies widely, so please review the information below prior to making your reservation. Regulations of the country where you rent the car will be in effect for the duration of your rental.

All our car rental rates include fire and third party liability insurance. Our inclusive rates also provide collision and theft coverage at an advance purchase discount. You may elect to decline collision and theft coverage. If you plan to take advantage of coverage offered by your credit card, please contact your card issuer directly for details. Specific insurance information for your reservation will be printed on your confirmation voucher.

The following guidelines apply to rentals commencing in Estonia.

Required Coverage
Fire and third party liability insurance is mandatory and is included in all rentals. Third party liability insurance offers between US$92,000 and US$318,000 worth of coverage for rentals in case of damage or injury to people or property outside of the rental car. Actual coverage amount may vary depending due to selected rental supplier.

Optional Coverage
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and theft protection are included in our inclusive rates at a discount. CDW, if purchased at the rental counter, costs approximately US$26 - US$53 per day. Theft protection, if purchased at the rental counter, costs approximately US$10 - US$20 per day. CDW and theft coverage reduce the deductible (responsibility of the client) to US$585 to US$1455, depending on the vehicle type. Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) is available with some suppliers at the rental counter for approximately US$6 per day. Super CDW may be offered locally to reduce the deductible as low as zero. Optional insurance coverage is available with select suppliers only, rates subject to change without notice.
